How it works
Victim Advocates International aims to disrupt accountability processes. This only works by increasing the power and influence of victims of serious international crimes.
All victims are dedicated to some form of justice. This powerful force has always been the catalyst for challenging impunity. Our strategy is to harness this power and be a discreet background structure supporting members to overcome barriers. This means supporting members' mobilisation efforts and providing the necessary legal expertise.
We do this by being:
Victim-owned – members make up the core governance structure of VAI;
Relevant – members decide their objectives and the resources they need to achieve them;
Accessible – we provide resources for members wherever they are.
By being victim-owned, members make all decisions about the uses of funding and resources. This ensures VAI's relevance and accessibility.
